Russian Gaming World has put up a Q&A session with J.Allard, general manager for the xbox platform.

XTR: Tell us about the OS of the X-Box. We heard that the kernel will be only several kilobytes in size and will be held in the system. And other programs will be released on game CD´s. Is it true? How will this mechanism be realised? Why did you separated the system?

J.Allard: Several kilobytes indeed. it will be as small as we can make it and this is because we want to give as much memory as we can to game developers to create their dreams. the reason we put it on the dvd is so that different games can have different versions with no compatibility conficts.
