AMD FX-8320E CPU & MSI 970 Mobo Review

Overclocking the AMD FX-8320E was one of the simplest overclocks I've ever performed. Feeling ambitious, I started by attempting to hit 5GHz with "safe" voltage around 1.55 volts. While the system would boot and be generally stable in Windows, heavy stress testing resulted in crashes and reboots. I started inching my way down towards stability, which arrived at 4.7GHz. I then dropped the voltage on the CPU down incrementally to 1.5 volts, testing stability at each drop in voltage. Temperatures at 4.7GHz and 1.5 volts were toasty at nearly 65 °C full load, but the system was 100% rock solid for all testing and a long run of both Intel Burn Test and Prime95 in small FFT mode. Gaming temperatures were much lower and the system never throttled due to overtemp. Granted, if you overclock the 8320E like this, you're throwing away that nice 95 watt TDP...is it worth it? I'd say yes, as you'll see on the next few pages! A full 1.5GHz over the base clock makes for a pretty peppy system!

Lenovo Miix 700 Hands On Review

A worthy rival for the Surface Pro 3. Lenovo unveiled its latest IdeaPad devices at IFA this week and one of the most notable was the Miix 700, an Intel Skylake-powered Microsoft Surface competitor.

Looking a little like a clone of Microsoft's tablet, the IdeaPad Miix 700 offers a Windows 10 experience in a portable form factor and with RealSense camera functionality.

We got our hands on the IdeaPad Miix 700 on the IFA show floor to see whether it is just as similar to the Surface in real life as on paper, as well as to see how well it fared in our usual initial tests. Here are our thoughts ...

OCZ Trion 100 480GB Solid State Drive Review

Our review unit came in a relative compact, brown corrugated cardboard box from OCZ's Taiwanese headquarters to us here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada using UPS Saver. Since I was on vacation at that time, my colleague Aaron Lai took the delivery. UPS Saver is always a quick way to get things across the ocean; from the time it was picked up in Taiwan to the instance it landed on our doorstep was less than two days. This included some time where Canadian customs had a fun time ripping apart the package to see what was inside. I am not entirely sure what prompted them to open it, but they went in as far as the retail box and stopped there -- the product packaging was still sealed.

Scythe Ninja 4 CPU Cooler Review

Much like mechanical drives and solid state drives regular CPU air coolers are nowhere near to be replaced by the rather new in comparison AIO (all in one) liquid CPU coolers. When the first "serious" AIO models made their appearance just over a year ago some of us did think that it wouldn't take long for that to happen but since to date AIO models haven't really achieved much higher cooling performance compared to high-end CPU air coolers it will obviously take longer for that to happen (if of course something new and better comes along until then). Because of that it doesn't really come as a surprise that there are many manufacturers out there that still focus in the design and manufacture of CPU air coolers one of which is Scythe and today with us we have their latest Ninja 4 model.

SteelSeries Siberia X300 Gaming Headset Review

At E3 2015, we noticed a number of third-party headset adapters for the original Xbox One controller including the one bundled with the SteelSeries Siberia X300 we are reviewing. Microsoft probably won't state why it chose to not integrate the headset jack directly on the controller from the beginning though we can expect pressure from the competition as a factor for the refreshed controller. After all, the $20 official adapter as a separate addon was just another reason to go for the PlayStation 4...
