7-Zip Review

7-Zip's remit is simple: it compresses and decompresses files. With hard drives and SSDs now larger and cheaper than ever, you might well wonder just why such tools are still needed. Two key reasons are the internet (compressing files means they can be sent and received faster) and security (compressed files can be encrypted and password-protected).You can also make self-extracting compressed archives that you can send to others without having to worry about what software they have installed.Whether you're looking to save space, secure data, or just back up your important data in an efficient manner, 7-Zip has all the bases covered. User experience7-Zip can be used in two ways. The first option is to fire up the main program window and work with compressed files through the file manager.

AMD Radeon RX 480 Undervolting Performance

The AMD Radeon RX 480 has already proven itself to be an affordable solution for 1080P and 1440P gaming displays in our launch review and then later when we looked at 4GB versus 8GB frame buffer performance. We don’t have a proper Data Acquisition (DAQ) tools needed to measure board power, so we’ve had to sit on the sidelines for the Radeon RX 480 powergate debacle. It appears that the Radeon RX 480 is exceeding the 75W power limit over the motherboards x16 PCIe slot. AMD will be providing a software update in a driver that implements a fix and there will be an update on its progress tomorrow (July 5th, 2016).

Asustor AS-6208T NAS Review

Today we review the Asustor AS6208T NAS. This SOHO based NAS unit offers 8 HDD bays and was designed to be the price competitive NAS unit for the small business owner and heavy consumer. The unit really is a small server offering a wide range of features from advanced RAID functionality, towards Media center output towards LAN Link Aggregation with it's four gigabit Ethernet jacks. The sky is the limit with the AS-6208T as it is plenty powerful as well. The default model will come with a proper 4GB of DDR3 memory, expandable towards 8GB of course. And then the processor, this Asustor is housing a proper Intel Celeron 1.60 GHz Quad-Core Processor that can turbo turbo towards 2.24 GHz. Combined with the latest and advanced Asustor management software and app suite this product is bound to impress. The AS6208T is not only a very fast file and capable server, it's also loaded with applications and thus functionality. Heck you can even connect it towards your HDTV and run KODI from it if you wanted to do so. Key usability for this product would be centralized storage, professional grade backup availability and hey, it is a viable H.265 1080P and 4K multimedia solution as well with its HDMI 1.4b Port. Armed with the latest firmware and an updated GUI + priced competitive against the big guns in the industry like Qnap, Thecus, Synology and Netgear a year or three ago Asustor entered the market.

Today's tested model NAS unit has four HDD bays (not hot-swappable though), RAID functionality, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0 connectors and then a heap of software functionality that remains to be really impressive. You could use this four bay AS3204T to download torrents or usenet (sickbeard, couchpotato and other popular software is supported), it has its own FTP server, a MySQL server, a WEB server including support for virtual hosts, built-in Kodi media center and well anything you could wish for on a low power server. You can use Android and IOS Apps to control or monitor the NAS and next to all that luxury, it remains a user and group based management based proper NAS as well. Basically whatever you need is ticked in some sort of way on a list of necessities anno 2016 for a modern age NAS, and it's doing so with an Intel Celeron 1.60 GHz Quad-Core Processor (Automatic turbo to 2.24 GHz) and 4 GB of memory. It does all that while remaining completely silent, well as silent as your HDD is really. Next to that by using that Intel Celeron 1.60 GHz Quad-Core Processor processor, this NAS unit in IDLE consumes fairly low amounts of power.

Cougar DeathFire Gaming Combo Review

Entry-level gaming sets have long been an overlooked market since the mechanical revolution. It is fair to say that not all gamers have resources to buy a full host of premium gaming peripherals which could easily set you back £250-450 (for keyboard, mouse, headset). So we have taken an interest in what is around for the gamers on a budget. The DeathFire combo from Cougar has just hit the market and we are fortunate enough to get our hands on it on it, especially considering the features for the price. Such as a keyboard that features hybrid mechanical switches. 26 key roll-over and RGB lighting, while the ambidextrous optical mouse is fitted with OMRON switches, the ADNS-5050 sensor and has been given a 1000Hz (1ms) refresh rate.

Available for £39.99, it is fair to say that your wallet will barely feel the dent, however, seated between the Tt eSPORTS sets we have viewed recently, (COMMANDER and CHALLENGER) Cougar will have to finely balance the performance, quality and feature set to find its place between these.

Palit GTX 1080 GameRock Premium 8 GB

Palit's GTX 1080 GameRock uses a mighty triple-slot dual-fan design, which provides excellent temperatures and noise levels better than any GTX 1080 we tested so far.
