For those that have been burning CDRs and CDR-Ws for a while know, there's nothing more gut wrenching than making a coaster. Or in other words, having the burn process fail in the middle of the session, therefore rendering the media being burned to, useless. Thanks to Sanyo, we now have an answer to this dilemma that has long plagued CDR and CDR-W users. Their new Burn-proof technology is one that will actually pause the burning session if it senses the write buffer is depleted, then unpause it once the data starts pouring in again. Even with today's relatively large 4MB (Megabyte) buffers, buffer under runs can and do occur. Why you ask? Because most CDR-W drives still use the IDE interface they are prone to other activities like disk I/O taking place during the burning process that will cripple the burning session on most systems.Read more
